About Strategy
This blog post is about developing a better strategies. A long time ago in the 1970’s, I read an article where a person ran a simulation program to develop a better way to win at the game Monopoly. I showed this to a friend who liked to gamble and he used it to throw Monopoly parities. We have card counters at poker tables and now a person has figured out how to beat roulette. These all deal with developing a strategy. As you’ll can see from my post here about refining my plans yesterday, I needed a strategy that works for me.
But….
When you have dyslexia and a touch of ADHD, the common normal person’s strategies do not work well for us. Our brain is different. Due to the way schools and society treats us, we suffer trauma from normal people who can’t think outside the box. We think outside the box. We see the world very different than normal people. Often we become artist, some have psychic skills. In business, we often do not have the best social skills because we can not spell well, see writing in reverse or mirror images. Thus, we have symbol recognition and reading issues. My daughter has dyslexia also. In the 1990, a lady named Shirley M. Pennebaker gave classes for dyslexic and ADHD children. Her school is called Camp Academia. She developed a method to synchronize the dyslexic brain. I began doing the exercises myself with my daughter.
My brain learned to get synchronized
Then one day, I was riding the elevator at work. I read the sign in the elevator and realized I had not been reading the sign to the end! I was shocked! So I continued on the program. My life began to change. I went back to school, to get a MBA as I thought this would help me advance at work. With my new skills and synchronized brain, I took the GMAT. I applied and got into a university near where I worked in their MBA program. The first quarter, I got all A’s. On many tests, I made 100’s.
Then. . .
My now ex-wife made my life hell. Total hell. I suffered a great deal of mental trauma due=ring this period. I went to a mental health counselor. She was great and helped me see what was happening. I took the GRE, I changed out the MBA program into a Master of Science program in counseling. In the counseling program, I learned about coping skills and developed social skills.
Going forward
I worked in computers. I realized than most of my coworkers were not nice people. They suffered from being arrogant, greedy and had a great deal of fear and envy. Due to my divorce, I had to stay in the computer world. It takes time to process trauma. For the next twenty years, I just survived. in 2016, I left the computer world and went back to the things I loved. Finally, I am beginning to resolve the life time trauma I have suffered.
So in summary , I am using this blog to reorganize my life and move forward in new directions. Consequently, I am looking for new mental tools to help me on this path in 2024. My hope, those who are following this blog, learn some techniques that will work for you’ll.
As I continue to read the 12 Week year book and Bullet Journal book, I have more ideas about making tasks maps that work for me. The down side right now is spending more time planning than doing. My energy appears to be shifting towards action towards my projects.
