Foreign Call Centers
Today is October 10th. My rant for today is about Foreign Call Centers. Today I had to call the UPS call center to find out why they were unable to redirect a shipment and then they send it back. I paid UPS $9 to change my delivery date. The local office could not find the package to deliver it on the Friday date of 10/2/2024 I requested and paid $9 for the change.
On my last call to their 1-800 number (which is very difficult to find on the website), I got connected to an agent. This agent did not speak English well. I had the same issue when I called to reschedule the delivery on 9/30/2024. I had to repeat the tracking number. Not once but 7 (seven) times today before she got it correct. After the third time I was flustered. By the Fifth time I was a raging mad Karen! Finally I go a manager after waiting 10+ minutes. No issues were resolved. My package was sent back to the sender. I called the company that shipped the package. They stated they are having a bit of trouble with UPS.

About Trust and Foreign call centers
In my post about American management, I talked about how employees are a resource and not an expense. Well out sourcing your call center to a foreign country to save on labor cost back fires. I am from the south. I have a southern accent. Most American’s can understand me. A 9AM EDT call to a foreign call center in say India or other eastern counties it is a late night call for them. However, those from India and other countries are clueless about my accent. My morning time is their late at night time there. Today, I lost my trust in UPS. Like Johnson & Johnson a company I boycott and don’t trust them. I tell others not to buy nor use their defective products. UPS has lost my trust! Bye Felicia.
So….
I called my shipper and they are changing my shipping to FEDEX, now and for the future. Like I stated above, they are having a bit of trouble with UPS also. So this is my warning to UPS – Return my $9. Drop your foreign call centers and hire English as a first language American workers to manage your call centers for US calls. Trust me UPS – It may save your business! You’ll pissed off the wrong guy this week! I doubt that you’ll will earn my trust again.
And Now about UPS and Foreign Call Centers
The CEO is Carol B. Tomé. Carol served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Home Depot, Inc. A bit of history, Home Depot was taken over by a former GE management type. A minion of Jack Welch. Since then Home Depot has continued to go down hill ever since. So she most likely worked with him and learned the wrong lessons about pleasing customers and offshoring labor costs.
Lack quality goes back in time with CFO’s
Just my opinion of having worked in business for 50 years, CFO’s make sorry CEO’s. Especially an example is GM in the 1970’s. The CFO took over General motors. Thus began GM’s decline under Thomas Murphy,who was an accountant over an engineering firm. He said “General Motors is not in the business of making cars. It is in the business of making money.” GM cars began to lack quality. Furthermore as the quality fell so did their sales fall hard. In time the government had to bail them out.
Thus, finance people do not understand human and engineering issues company’s face. They only look at numbers and not what makes a company strong. People make a company strong. My bet is Carol will start downsizing UPS. Opps, it already happened! UPS to cut 12,000 jobs 5 months after agreeing to new labor deal. And guess who is behind that, dumb Carol of course.
I am not the only one
Other’s have this issue. Otherwise this meme would not come up first on the list of memes! Thus many Americans are very tired of this bullshit!

Lastly, Carol Tomé and for UPS management – Think carefully who you piss off! While I am nothing in the world of media and influencers. I am now an unhappy customer who will not use your services in the future! By the way, Home Depot is not my first choice for building supplies either. They don’t pay their vendors on time another management failure. So Carol – In order to break Unions, you just fucked your business. Poor dumb dear. Likewise, Jack Welch lives in fools like you! Prove me wrong!
