January 7th blog
I woke up this morning with my cat S’machie jumping on the bed. It is January 7th and time for me to blog a bit. I picked up my iPad and looked at the news. Scrolling down the news stories to see what happened yesterday and over night. I don’t really look at the bad news stories. Just what happened yesterday. I then look for medical articles that deal with immunology, skin care, and ageing.
Lastly, I look at art. I then pulled up the definition of doom scrolling and found I don’t look for bad things. The exception is the news on Donald Trump! For him, I wish he was in jail and shut up where we don’t have to listen to him nor read about him.
Art I looked at today. I looked up several horse themed art.
I spent a good bit of my early life in Athens, Georgia. I felt like I grew up on highway 78 going from Decatur to Athens. While in Athens at my brief time at the University of Georgia. They had a group called the iron Horsemen. A few frat boys who were leaders. They would have their picture taken in from of this horse.
You can read about its history here!
Now About Art
Several weeks back, I drew a design for some earrings. I then show my poorly done drawing to many women to see what they liked. I am a man thus I don’t know what women really want. We go to a jewelry store and buy what they have. The jewelry nine out of ten times is designed and made by a man. They did very little marketing to see what women actually wanted! Very few are designed and made by women. One such from the 1930’s is this one.
Only five of these were made. Originally Owned by Claudette Colbert, now in a museum in Boston. Try this one MFABoston.
The brooch was designed by Juliette Moutard in 1935 for the Parisian jewelry house René Boivin and has been described as the most magnificent ornament the firm ever produced.
So here is my crude drawing.
The votes were all for the one on the left! One reason given as feed back is the pear design on the right is so typical. So I started to do several stones for the one on the left.
Well That’s it for today! I have work to do!
