Nixon’s war on student leaders

One of Richard Nixon’s top advisers and a key figure in the Watergate scandal said, “the war on drugs was created as a political tool to fight blacks and hippies”.  This according to an interview published in Harper’s Magazine.

The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House.  Had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people.  According to former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman.  He told this to Harper’s writer Dan Baum.

Nixon's war on student leaders
John Ehrlichman a grade A asshole who ruined many people’s lives!

John Ehrlichman’s quote “You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin.  Then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

Ehrlichman’s comment is the first time the war on drugs has been plainly characterized as a political assault.  This war was designed to help Nixon win, and keep, the White House.

It’s a stark departure from Nixon’s public explanation for his first piece of legislation in the war on drugs.  He delivered this message to Congress in July 1969 .  This response framed a policy due to an increase in heroin addiction and the rising use of marijuana and hallucinogens by students.  This policy was based on a Life magazine articles about drug use in the counter culture.

However, Nixon’s political focus on white voters, the so called “Silent Majority” is well-known. And Nixon’s derision for minorities in private is well-known from his White House recordings.

Nixon’s war on student leaders how it effected me!

I was one of those hippie anti war student leaders!  During the Kent State protest, the Dean Tate asked me to help to prevent problems.  I was photographed on the balcony with Dean Tate.  Dean Tate was a friend of my family.  I was put on the Nixon List.  My parents via a friend who worked in the Nixon administration, realized I needed to leave the school I was at.  So I transferred and kept a low profile.  Other people were not so lucky.  They were arrested and smeared.  Others got sent to Vietnam.

Later, I was prevented from getting into medical schools when I applied.

So applying this to now

It appears the Von Shitznpantz admin is doing the same actions to student protesters now and those who are against his reign of terror.  My suggestion, resist!  Report the movement of his new minions it is all about revenge.  His enemies are the media “Fake News”, anyone who disagrees with him and his minions, those who uphold the rule of law, stand for our rights and lastly the rest of us.
