The Illusion of Security in Times of Authoritarianism
Today’s post concerns a friends feedback on my blog posts about psychology score cards. He stated it would be better if I just listed their crimes. That would require a great deal of research to compile a list like that for even one dark triad leader (article from 2016 about activities in the 1970’s). The conversation switched to the danger posed by my posts to me. That Maga minions would come after me. Will posters like me and the Psycho Evaluation Krewe get our heads shaved, put in chains and send in white shorts to El Salvador? That remains to be seen.
This would be much like what happened to one of my ancestors. Hugh Despenser the younger, after the overthrow of King Edward, he was charged with high treason and ultimately hanged, drawn and quartered by Edward’s wife. This is typical of authoritarian playbook, humiliate those who they see against them as a warning! Thus, we have the illusion of security in times of authoritarianism. I call authoritarian reigns not being safe in a storm.
Specifically, one ancestors died burned at the stake during Queen Mary’s reign as a heretic protestant Reverend. Folks in Britain were not safe under Bloody Mary nor her younger sister Elizabeth! Therefore many of my ancestors left for America. Some came early on the Mayflower. Best to remember, there are no safe havens in time of wars. Some day, I will make a list of all these ancestors from England, Scotland, Ireland and Europe.
So When I write about authoritarian leaders. I know I am risking my future. However, I am doing these posts for my Grandchildren. My hope is they will be free from these pond scum bad leaders and we can make an enlighten age for the future.
