Volatile Media Trolls Secrets and Skills at keeping minions angry

Welcome gentle readers, this blog concerns media trolls and their use of negative emotions.  In it we will dive into emotional intelligence a bit more. Discussed will be how you and authoritarian minions are being controlled by media trolls skills at creating negative emotions.  The number one emotion they cause is anger.  Then there will be a plan to deal with media trolls.

Volatile Media Trolls Secrets and Skills at keeping minions angry
Having an angry day? Do you have the look? Pretty scary! Blackbeard used it well!

Our higher Brain functions shut down with anger

Psychologist researcher  Ira J. Roseman P.h.D. came up with a studies on motive consistent and motive inconsistent logic.  Anger has many causes, we see people and circumstances causing us pain.  Anger is a motive inconsistent emotion as we see people and circumstances causing us to not get what we want.  Therefore, we feel strong, but we did not get what we want!  This is the paper:

Roseman, I. J. (1984). Cognitive determinants of emotions: A structural
theory. In P. Shaver (Ed.), Review of personality and social psychology
(Vol. 5, pp. 11–36). Beverly Hills, CA: SAGE.

I read this paper in my counseling psychology classes back in the mid 1990’s.  It profoundly changed how I acted.  However, for most people they lose the high brain logic functions due to anger.  Yes, I have had this happen to me every now and then.  I work hard to control thoughts that lead to anger.

How did anger effect the 2024 election?

Ira is not the only Psychologist researcher who explores anger.  May I introduce you’ll to Ryan Martin P.h.D., also known as the Anger Professor, is a leading expert on emotional wellness and anger management.  As the author of “Why We Get Mad: How to Use Your Anger for Positive Change and How to Deal with Angry People,” he provides research-backed strategies to help people channel their emotions for personal growth.  Ryan wrote that Trump won this election by capitalizing on anger, especially male anger. The same angry men he had given up reaching with his counseling work had voted overwhelmingly for Trump. That anger connects directly to their politics. Not only did it inform their vote, but it also made them more likely to share misinformation online and more likely to believe conspiracy theories.

Ryan’s research shows that men get angry far more often than women — more than 60% say they are angry at least once a day, compared with only 38% of women. This is likely true for a variety of reasons, including upbringings in which boys are often taught that anger is a safer emotion than fear, sadness or other feelings. It is also likely true that in the current social and political climate, men, especially white men, are perceiving advances by historically marginalized groups as unfair, which leads to more anger.  Therefore we have the rise of the volatile media trolls who use the secrets and skills of keeping minions and us angry.

So our media now trolls Us using anger and fear

Going back to videos, podcasts and television, they use their media to control people by misinformation that causes outrage, anger and fear.   Being on several social media apps like Yahoo comments, Facebook, Instagram and now BlueSky.  I realized trolling had changed since I was moderator on a medical website.  Consequently a troll does not need much skill to make people angry.  The news writers only need a few words like these: waste, corruption, incompetent, permissive attitude, destructive, self-serving, greed, ideological.  Add a few what aboutisms and people eating cats and dogs.  What about welfare queens.  What about you being replaced by a worker from (name your favorite country).  You get the idea!

When I was a moderator the trolls had names like “Osoma Ben Farting”.  Now we have faces with regular names on YouTube, in Podcasts and the news stations.  Names like Ben, Joe and Rush.  After my post on our current format media, I did a bit more research.   The road led back to that great Greek Aristotle.   Note – I use to say in high school Aristotle blew his throttle.  However, I never really read his works back then.  It was after I read Anna Applebaum, Ruth Ben-Ghiat and Timothy Snyder’s books that I went back to look at his works.  He was observing one of the first strongman authoritarian in history, Alexander the great.

Why violent Revolutions fail

I am going to call this the English and French bad revolution model.  In my post tangled up in blue, I noted that Napoleon found the crown of France in the gutter.  The French fooled around trying to figure out a good government until 1946.  The tangled up violent revolutions in England and France did not end well for the people either.  Nor did the 1917 revolution in Russia.  See the pattern.  I wrote a paper on this in the spring of 1970 in my history class on failed revolutions.  Very few people were better off after these revolutions.   Aristotle noted this in his observations of the Greek states that had violent revolutions. Hint-HINT this is not a new feature for humans!

But James what about the American Revolution…

Only a few like the American revolution end well.  The reason was England had a demented king and was running out of money with a spending spree Queen (See Bridgerton) and a do nothing parliament (sound familiar think of a dirty little Newt who enshrined in the 1990’s a combative, tribal, angry attitude in politics that would infect our national discourse in Washington and Congress for decades to come.  It is still happening, think Mr Piggy!

The Brits also were pitting against Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington (a master at retreats until he had good weapons).  I would not want to debate Ben Franklin nor Thomas Jefferson. Even after we had a new government, you had folks who were not happy.  Whiskey rebellion anyone!  One of my ancestors had his house burned down during this rebellion!  Henderson in North Carolina also wanted to be a king.  It was not easy forming our republic.  Please notice the word ANGRY!  Do not go into anger!  Stay sane.  That is the coping skill we need for the next four years.  Stay out of anger, this will improve your thinking processes.  Read and learn about history and psychology presents a great key to understanding current events.  Authoritarian Oligarchy take overs are not new and they fail sooner or later.   We need to make changes without violence sooner our system allows this.

So how do we beat these Oligarchs?

I have been pondering this since last November.  This morning I heard Scott Galloway P.h.D. comments that matched Aristotle‘s notes on why authoritarian Oligarchy states fail.  It is why a very smart guy named Luigi issued a manifesto on corporate abuse with “brutal honesty”.

A plan to deal with media trolls

Simple solution – fix what has slowly been taken from us since 1969!  We use to have faith in our country, there was self corrections in the past after the great depression.  We the people need to do this again.  I was talking to a friend two days ago, he stated “I don’t trust politicians anymore”.  He has been corrupted by misinformation from media trolls.  Thus how do you restore trust?  One way is by bring back honesty!

Now about those media trolls.  Don’t go on their channels, thumbs down on YouTube, block them on Facebook, X, BlueSky and other places.  Keep your account on X and upload tons of pictures about nothing to eat up their computer space.  Don’t support the advertisers on these media platforms.  I block all ads on YouTube now.  Write letters to advertisers on shows that support them.  Don’t buy from these companies.  This is hard I know.  However, this is a quiet revolution.  I don’t buy products from Johnson&Johnson, nor do I use UPS any more, GE – No-No, as for Amazon, I am using local stores now.  I avoid big chain stores also.  Remember: no mon no fun!

So how, in the late 1960’s there was a model of behavior before Nixon started smashing democracy and honesty.  Act locally, think Globally.  Vet your local politicians – who are the money sources behind them.  Expose them.  Create your own media to spread facts and correct information.  Counter “Newt’s  Language” his words here: A Key Mechanism of Control Newt Gingrich’s 1990 GOPAC* memo“.  These can be used against the Oligarchs.  Word work both ways!

A list of things we need to fix

  • Health Care for all – get rid of health insurance companies.
  • More taxes for the rich and corporations – the rich need to pay 80-90% of their income again
  • fixing roads and infrastructure – this was started but then cities and counties put in bridge beauty features with the funds and did not fix pot holes!  Think locally!
  • Taking money out of politics (PAC’s and rich donors need to end)
  • Law reversing citizens united ruling
  • Sane climate management
  • Better and cheaper medical costs!
  • No medicine over $15
  • Reverse the 1972 health for profit law! (Nixon and John Kennedy – look it up)
  • Sane drug prices (FDA needs a big fix)!
  • More research and development on cancer, and medicine.
  • More money spent on education – teachers do not need to pay to fix class rooms
  • Less cost for higher education – ask your doctor how much they paid for medical school
  • Bring back the media truth law Reagan smashed

This is just my short list.  Where ever I post this and you’ll have suggestions.  I will add to the list!
